Heavyweight contender Tomasz Adamek officially signed to face reigning champion Wladimir Klitschko in September, RingTV.com has learned from Polish journalist Przemek Garczarczyk. The deal was finalized on Monday evening.

Both fighters must first win interim bouts scheduled in April, however, if Klitschko successfully defends his RING title against Dereck Chisora on Arpil 30 and Adamek defeats a tune-up opponent to be named (former champ Hasim Rahman has been mentioned) earlier in the month, the two will meet in Poland on one of the first three Saturdays of September, according to Garczarczyk.

The site of the bout and the network that will carry teh fight in the U.S. has yet to be determined but soccer stadiums in either Warsaw or Wroclaw are being discussed as the venue for the intriguing matchup.

Klitschko's K2 Promotions will ultimately decide upon which venue and the specific date of the fight.

RTL will televise the event in Germany, while Adamek's representatives will meet with HBO and Showtime to discuss airing the bout in the U.S. In Poland, Klitschko-Adamek will be available via pay per view, the first ever PPV boxing event for the country, according to Garczarczyk.
