Marroquin scores quick KO on Pacquiao-Margarito undercard

ARLINGTON, Texas – Roberto Marroquin, from nearby Dallas, made the home fans happy.

The featherweight prospect stopped Francisco Dominguez of Mexico only 1:29 into their scheduled eight-round fight on the Manny Pacquiao-Antonio Margarito undercard Saturday at Cowboys Stadium.

Marroquin (17-0, 13 knockouts) landed a left cross that hurt Dominguez (8-8, 2 KOs) and followed with several more punches that prompted the referee to stop the fight.

In other early fights, Juan Martin Elorde, grandson of the great Filipino fighter Flash Elorde, lost a decision to Angel Rodriguez (6-4-2, 4 KOs) of Houston in a four-round junior lightweight bout.



Elorde (11-1, 4 KOs) had been unbeaten.

Mike Lee, a light heavyweight who started boxing at Notre Dame University, stopped Keith Debow (0-3-1) with a single right to the temple only 1:01 into their scheduled four-round bout. Lee (3-0, 2 KOs) is from Chicago.

And junior welterweight prospect Jose Benavidez (9-0, 9 KOs) of Phoenix knocked out Winston Mathis (6-3, 2 KOs) of Stockbridge, Ga., at 2:23 of the third round of their scheduled six-round bout.
