Unbeaten lightweight prospect Mercito Gesta scored the most impressive victory of his career so far by stopping dangerous journeyman Ivan Valle in the second round of their Telefutura-televised main event from San Diego on Friday.

Gesta (20-0-1, 10 knockouts), a speedy Filipino-American southpaw from San Diego, landed almost every right hook and straight left he threw en route to dropping Valle (28-10-3, 24 KOs) twice in the first round. The 30-year-old Mexican veteran, who was coming off a 12-round draw with prospect Josafat Perez, staggered back to his corner after being saved by the bell.

However, Gesta quickly overwhelmed Valle at the start of the second round, forcing referee Pat Russell to wave the bout off 26 seconds into round.

In the co-featured bout of the Solo Boxeo broadcast, unbeaten featherweight prospect Michael Franco (17-0, 11 KOs) scored a competitive eight-round unanimous decision over journeyman Adolfo Landeros (20-16-1, 9 KOs).
