Martinez outpoints Pavlik to take titles
Sergio Martinez outpointed Kelly Pavlik to take Pavlik's middleweight titles Saturday in Atlantic City, N.J.
Martinez (45-2-2, 24 knockouts) dominated Pavlik (36-2, 32 KOs) with his speed and skills in the first third of the fight but Pavlik rallied in the middle rounds and seemed to seize the momentum.
The Argentine then cut Pavlik's right eye with a left and, with the blood flowing, dominated the rest of the way to win easily.
The judges scored it 115-112, 115-111 and 116-111.
Pavlik reportedly weighed 178 at fight time, 11 more than Martinez.
