The anticipated Timothy Bradley-Marcos Maidana fight that was scheduled for June 19 has been postponed due to an injury sustained by Maidana, according to a press notice from representatives of the Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage, Calif., where the 140-pound showdown was to take place.

“This morning Maidana's manager informed me that he injured his back while training on Friday,” Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, which represents Maidana in the U.S., confirmed to RingTV.com on Tuesday. “They had just started camp and had hoped that the injury would feel better after the weekend but it didn't. They saw a doctor, who advised that Maidana not train for at least 20 days.”

Schaefer said that Gary Shaw, Timothy Bradley's co-promoter, is looking to reschedule the fight on one of two dates in July. He added that Maidana's camp was fine with rescheduling the bout in July.

It is not known if the Agua Caliente Casino will remain the venue for the fight, which will be televised by HBO.
