Paul Williams eked out a majority decision over Sergio Martinez in an epic brawl Saturday in Atlantic City, N.J.

The fighters exchanged punches at a furious rate from beginning to end, making an entertaining fight and one very difficult to score.

Each fighter went down in the first round but somehow stayed on their feet after that.

Julie Lederman scored the fight 114-114 and Lynne Carter gave Williams a 115-113 edge and Pierre Benoist somehow had 119-110 in favor of Williams.

Williams (38-1, 27 knockouts) was supposed to fight Kelly Pavlik, who pulled out because of persistant problem with his hand.

Martinez (44-2-2, 24 KOs) has now engaged in two fights in the U.S. in which he arguably won. He had to settle for a draw against Kermit Cintron in February, a fight most thought the Argentine won.
