Panama's Nehomar Cerme├▒o (18-0, 10 knockouts) scored a unanimous decision over former unified junior bantamweight titleholder Cristian Mijares (36-6-2, 15 KOs) in Nuevo Leon, Mexico on Saturday.

Cerme├▒o, THE RING's No. 8-rated bantamweight contender, won by scores of 117-111 and 116-112 (twice), retaining an interim 118-pound title.

Cerme├▒o won a controversial split decision over Mijares in March.

Mijares, a talented Mexican southpaw, was considered an elite boxer a year ago following impressive victories over Katsushige Kawashima, Jorge Arce, Jose Navarro, and Alex Munoz, but he's lost three consecutive bouts beginning with his ninth-round knockout to Vic Darchinyan last November.
