Brian Viloria retained his junior flyweight title with a unanimous decision over Mexico's Jesus Iribe at the Blaisdell Center in his native Honolulu, Hawaii on Saturday.
Viloria (26-2 15 KOs) won by sores of 118-110, 117-112 and 117-111. The 28-year-old 2000 Olympian's victory over Iribe (15-6-5, 9 KOs) was the first defense of the IBF 108-pound title he won by knocking out longtime beltholder Ulises Solis in the Philippines this past April.
In the co-featured bout of the Top Rank-promoted card that was televised on the Solar network in the Philippines, bantamweight prospect AJ Banal (20-1-1, 15 KOs) outpointed veteran journeyman Jose Angel Beranza (32-15-2, 25 KOs) by scores of 99-92, 98-91 and 98-92 in a 10-round bout.
