Chavez, Valero to be on same card
Edwin Valero, THE RING's No. 3-rated lightweight, and junior middleweight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will fight on the same card on July 25 in Mexico, promoter Bob Arum said.
Arum said he's close to securing opponents for both fighters but wouldn't say who they are because he didn't want to compromise the talks.
The fight will take place either in Cancun or Toluca, which is near Mexico City, he said. And he expects the card to be on free television.
Valero (25-0, 25 knockouts) is coming off a sensational second-round knockout of Antonio Pitalua last Saturday in Austin, Texas. Chavez (39-0-1, 29 KOs) outpointed Luciano Cuello on March 28 in Tijuana, Mexico.
