Frankie Gomez, one of the top amateurs in the U.S., has signed a contract to fight for Golden Boy Promotions.

The product of East Los Angeles, Golden Boy President Oscar De La Hoya’s hometown, will make his professional debut on the Bernard Hopkins-Roy Jones Jr. undercard on April 3 in Las Vegas.

The 18-year-old junior welterweight reportedly went 120-8 as an amateur and won numerous national and international titles, including a U.S. national championship.

"Growing up I always looked up to what Oscar de la Hoya did in the ring, so to be with Golden Boy Promotions is a dream come true for me," said Gomez. "I'm humbled by this moment, but excited at the same time, because I'm ready to begin my pro career and show the world just what I can do when the headgear comes off and the bell rings."
