Undefeated British heavyweight Hughie Fury wasn’t impressed with WBO titleholder Joseph Parker’s victory over his former sparring partner Razvan Cojanu and is convinced he can knock out the New Zealander.

Parker, who is rated No. 6 by THE RING at heavyweight, defeated Cojanu by wide scores of 119-110 and 117-110 twice to retain his title by 12-round unanimous decision in Auckland, New Zealand, but looked far from spectacular.

Conjanu, who hails from Romania, was a late replacement for Fury who, two weeks ago, was forced to withdraw due to a back injury. The Englishman is now expecting a new date for the Parker fight, while he completes his rehabilitation therapy.

And Fury insists that he didn’t see anything to cause him sleepless nights.

He said, “Parker, to me, didn’t look like he knew what to do with Cojanu after a few rounds. He couldn’t land his big shots and he wasn’t breaking him down.

“He made very hard work of it against a former sparring partner who you’d think he’d know inside out and be able to take out. He struggled and looked poor.

Fury continued, “Cojanu was useless and you could see he just wanted to survive in there. He didn’t show any ambition to win and was in there to just to make it to the end of the fight.

“My opinion of my chances against Parker hasn’t changed after watching that. I said before I’ll knock him out and that remains the same. Now I know I’ll knock him out and take the WBO title.”
