Oscar Cantu and Aston Palicte to clash on Saturday

Junior bantamweights Oscar Cantu and Aston Palicte will square off in a 10-rounder on Saturday night at the Downtown Las Vegas (Nevada) Event Center.

The bout will headline a CBS Sports Network broadcast, beginning at 10 p.m. ET/ 7 p.m. PT.

Cantu (14-0, 1 knockout) has built an unbeaten record defeating modest opposition. His most notable win was a 10-round unanimous decision over Bruno Escalante on Dec. 12 of last year.



In his most recent bout on May 21, Cantu grinded out a 10-round split decision over Samuel Gutierrez.

Saturday’s bout against Palicte will mark the first time Cantu will fight outside of Texas, where he resides in the town of Kingsville.

Palicte (21-2, 18 KOs), who hails from Cebu City in the Philippines, knocked Vergilio Silvano out in the seventh round of his most recent fight on June 24.

In his previous fight on March 12, Palicte lost a close split decision over 10 rounds to Junior Granados.

In a junior middleweight co-feature, Nathaniel Gallimore will face unbeaten Angelo Baez in an eight-round bout.

Gallimore (15-1-1, 12 KOs), originally from Jamaica, has won his two most recent bouts, since suffering his only defeat as a pro on June 11.

Saturday night will mark the first time Baez (15-0-1, 11 KOs) will be fighting in the United States, as he has fought all but one of his bouts in his native Chile.

Two bouts will feature fighters with unbeaten records.

Welterweight Jeremy Nichols (7-0, 2 KOs), who resides in Las Vegas, will face Kevin Ottley (3-0, 2 KOs) in a six-round bout. Welterweights Flavio Rodriguez (5-0, 4 KOs) and Dilon Loza (5-0, 3 KOs) will square off in a six-round bout.
