Unbeaten welterweight Alex Saucedo has enjoyed modest success thus far as a pro.

Joining one of the best trainers in boxing today could take Saucedo to the next level, something that could become a reality.

Saucedo will have trainer Abel Sanchez in his corner tonight when he faces Raymond Serrano at the Treasure Island Casino in Las Vegas.

The eight-round bout will open the “Solo Boxeo Tecate” broadcast, which begins at 11 p.m. ET/ PT.

Saucedo (22-0, 14 knockouts), who resides in Oklahoma City, has been training at the Summit Gym in Big Bear Lake, California over the last month or so.

Sanchez, who is best known for training unbeaten unified middleweight titleholder Gennady Golovkin, has been impressed with what Saucedo has learned thus far.

“He’s such a good kid,” Sanchez told RingTV recently. Sanchez also trains cruiserweight contender Murat Gassiev, unbeaten heavyweight Andy Ruiz Jr., and prospect Ryan Martin.

“Alex works very hard in the gym. He wants to learn and he’s always asking questions. You could tell he takes pride in what he does.”

Saucedo, who has won his last three bouts by decision, made his pro debut at the age of 17 almost five years ago.

Serrano (21-3, 9 KOs) has not fought since Oct. 16 of last year, when he lost a 10-round decision to Brad Solomon.

In the main event of the Top Rank Promotions card, junior lightweights Casey Ramos (23-0, 6 KOs) and Andy Vences (16-0, 10 KOs) will square off in a 10-round bout.
