Former junior featherweight title challenger Cesar Juarez makes for exciting fights and surprising results.

Juarez’s performances in recent fights have brought him out of obscurity and onto the bigger stages of boxing. He will face Richard Pumicpic on another televised fight card Saturday night at the Auditorio Municipal in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California, Mexico.

The 10-round bout will air on beIN Sports en Espanol, beginning at 11 p.m. ET/ 8 p.m. PT.

Juarez’s last five bouts have been a collective rollercoaster ride, in which he has pulled off upsets or faced some of the best fighters in boxing.

Juarez (18-5, 14 knockouts) is best known for his 12-round battle with Nonito Donaire on Dec. 11 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Juarez survived two knockdowns during the fight to rally and gave Donaire all he could handle before losing by unanimous decision. With the win, Donaire secured the vacant WBO 122-pound strap.

Earlier in 2015, Juarez pulled off an upset when he won an eight-round majority decision over former world title challenger Cesar Seda. In his most recent bout on July 9, Juarez pulled off another upset when he stopped Albert Pagara in the eighth round. Juarez survived a knockdown to defeat the previously-unbeaten Filipino.

Juarez, who resides in the Mexico City area, is ranked No. 2 by the WBO at 122 pounds.

Pumicpic (18-7-2, 6 KOs) has won his last three bouts. His most notable fight was a decision defeat at the hands of former fringe contender Glenn Porras.

In the opening bout of the beIN Sports en Espanol broadcast, former WBO light flyweight titleholder Ramon Garcia Hirales (20-8-1, 12 KOs) hopes to snap a four-bout losing streak when he faces Israel Gonzalez (15-1, 5 KOs) in a 10-round junior bantamweight bout.

Also fighting on the Zanfer Promotions card, flyweight Yonathan Padilla (17-1, 8 KOs) will fight Edgar Garcia (12-2, 6 KOs) in an eight-round bout.
