Main Events drew plaudits for its Saturday night boxing series on the NBC Sports Network, which served as a breeding ground for light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev.

Now, Main Events CEO Kathy Duva, frustrated with the absence of television dates, has taken matters into her own hands and unveiled a new series she hopes will launch another superstar. Duva announced on Wednesday the pilot episode of a new enterprise called, “Mohegan Sun’s Rising Stars Boxing Series.” The plan is to run three to four shows a year and showcase a young stable of prospects. The debut event takes place Nov. 26 at Mohegan Sun’s Uncas Ballroom in Uncasville, Connecticut. The card will not be televised.

“For the past couple years it has been difficult for promoters to find a platform to showcase their young prospects,” Duva said in a press release. “We look forward to showcasing many talented young fighters looking to be the next big thing in boxing. This first event will be a bit of a test run, so we hope to announce more details and a real schedule for the series in the near future.”

The kick-off will feature in respective bouts, Cassius Chaney, a heavyweight from New London, Connecticut, Kevin Asmat a featherweight from Union City, New Jersey, as well as Reinaldo Graceski a light heavyweight from Springfield, Massachusetts. Along with serving as a vehicle for local prospects, the series will also expose fans to international talent such as Enriko Gogokhia a junior middleweight from Ukraine and Madiyar Ashkeyev a junior middleweight from Kazakhstan. The full card will be announced soon. Tickets start at $50 and are available through Ticketmaster and the Mohegan Sun box office.
