Junior lightweight Tevin Farmer did not look like he had much of a future after 12 pro fights. He suffered four losses among them and a future as a journeyman likely awaited.

Fifteen wins later and Farmer is now being mentioned as a world title contender and could be in line for one in 2017 if he continues winning.

Farmer will face Orlando Rizo in an eight-round bout tonight at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The Farmer-Rizo bout will be the co-feature bout of the Peltz Boxing card, whose eight-round main event features junior middleweight Tyrone Brunson (23-6-1, 22 knockouts) versus unbeaten Ismael Garcia (10-0, 4 KOs).

Farmer (22-4-1, 5 KOs) is coming off an impressive 10-round unanimous decision over Ivan Redkach on July 30. The win was Farmer’s 15th consecutive victory since his eighth round knockout loss to Jose Pedraza four years ago.

Farmer, who will be fighting for the first time in his hometown of Philadelphia in three years, is currently ranked in the top 15 in the IBF and WBC.

The 26-year-old Farmer has wins over former WBC junior lightweight titleholder Gamaliel Diaz on March 30 and fringe contender Daulis Prescott in August of last year.

The southpaw is promoted by Lou DiBella.

Rizo (19-7, 11 KOs) was knocked out in the fourth round by Toka Kahn Clary on May 14. The fighter from Nicaragua is 3-3 in last six fights.

Junior welterweight Mike Reed, who is promoted by Top Rank Promotions, will also fight on the card. Reed (19-0, 11 KOs) will fight Aaron Herrera (29-5-1, 18 KOs) in an eight-round bout.
