Lou DiBella’s enthusiasm for women’s boxing could lead to an appearance for featherweight titleholder Amanda Serrano on Showtime in the fall.

DiBella spoke with Showtime boxing chief Stephen Espinoza about the possibility of giving Serrano (29-1-1, 22 knockouts) the national exposure after her first-round destruction of Calixta Silgago on Saturday. Serrano, 27, defended her WBO featherweight title in the first ever female title fight at Barclays Center on the undercard of Leo Santa Cruz-Carl Frampton.

“Stephen Espinoza is a big fan of Amanda Serrano’s,” DiBella said. “And by the way, Amanda Serrano’s opponent had to go to the hospital with broken ribs and that shows you the power of that woman and the efficiency of her punches. She’s really talented. Stephen and I had a substantive conversation about it. And it could happen as soon as late September but I think it’s in the fall.”

DiBella referenced possibly matching Serrano against WBC/WBA featherweight titleholder Jelena Mrdjenovich. DiBella has Barclays Center reserved for Sept. 24; he also has Dec. 10 and Dec. 17 dates reserved at Barclays Center.
