The atmosphere at today’s official weigh-in at Covent Garden in London hit fever pitch when the participants for what many perceive to be the fight of the night hit the scales.

George Groves (23-3, 18 KOs) and Martin Murray (33-3-1, 16 KOs) collide in a 12-round super middleweight attraction that has boxing fans divided. Both bring plenty to the table and both are positive of victory ahead of this thunderous all-British collision.

Groves, who is rated No. 5 by THE RING at 168 pounds, is a career-long super middleweight and looked to be in excellent shape at 167.6.

“I don’t think I’ve done myself justice in my boxing career,” said Groves when interviewed by Sky Sports. “Tomorrow you’ll see the best of me. Martin Murray is a good fighter but I want to prove that I’m a great fighter.”

Murray only moved north to 168 pounds last year, so it was a surprise to everyone that he came in one ounce over the limit. Still, the 33-year-old won’t have any problems losing the excess ahead of time.

Neither man has captured a world title in their respective careers but Saturday’s winner should move on to challenge for the WBA super middleweight title.

Main event weights for Anthony Joshua and Dominic Breazeale to follow.
