Anthony Joshua’s immense popularity was once again on display when the British star weighed in for his maiden title defense against underdog Dominic Breazeale at Covent Garden in London on Friday.

Joshua, who is rated No. 5 by THE RING, was given a terrific reception when he hit the scales at a pretty regular 243.3 pounds and, as always, the London 2012 Olympic gold medalist looked to be in excellent fighting shape.

Breazeale, from Glendale, CA, has also worked hard for his defining moment and came in at 255 pounds.

“I need to break (Breazeale) down mentally and then all the rest will fall” said Joshua when interviewed by Sky Sports afterwards. “It’s a brilliant turn out today. This is all positive energy and I’m just looking forward to letting it all out on Saturday night.”

Despite being unbeaten in 17 fights, with 15 KOs, Breazeale has been shaken up and dropped during his ascent to title contention. Regardless, the American is supremely confident that he can spoil the party and rip the belt from Joshua.

“This is Anthony’s hometown so I expected a hostile reception,” said Breazeale. “This will be explosive fireworks. We’ll be exchanging leather, punch-for-punch, and in the end I’m gonna knock out Anthony Joshua.”

Joshua won the title with an effortless second-round knockout of American southpaw Charles Martin. Breazeale is nicknamed “Trouble”, but oddsmakers predict that Joshua will have very little trouble at the O2 Arena on Saturday.
