Middleweight contender Danny Jacobs is off the July 30 card at Barclays Center and will return in either Aug. or Sept. against Sergio Mora at a venue to be determined, a source told RingTV.com on Wednesday.

Jacobs (31-1, 28 knockouts) was scheduled to face Mora in the co-feature of a Showtime-televised card headlined by featherweight titleholder Leo Santa Cruz vs. Carl Frampton on July 30 in Brooklyn. Now, Jacobs and Mora ( 28-4-2, 9 KOs) will headline their own card, the source said.

The plan is to have Jacobs, who holds a secondary middleweight title and is the WBA’s “Regular Champion,” fight again after his rematch with Mora so that he has two fights in 2016, according to the source.

Jacobs, THE RING’s No. 2 middleweight, has yet to fight this year and is still riding the momentum of his first-round stopping of Peter Quillin in just 85 seconds last Dec. at Barclays Center. The first time he and Mora fought last Aug., the two traded first-round knockdowns before the bout was stopped in the second round after Mora hit the canvas and could not continue because of an injured ankle, giving Jacobs a TKO victory.
