LAS VEGAS – Curtis Stevens stopped Patrick Teixeira with a single right counter at 1:04 of the second round on the Canelo Alvarez-Amir Khan card Saturday at the new T-Mobile Arena.

Stevens (28-5, 21 knockouts) seemed to hurt Teixeira (26-1, 22 KOs) with a jab in the first round, which wasn’t a good sign for the Brazilian middleweight prospect. Stevens ended the fight with a perfect shot that put Teixeira down. He got up but couldn’t continue.

The victory pumps life in the career of the Stevens, who hadn’t fought since he lost to Hassan N’Dam in October 2014.
