The summer schedule is solidifying that much more, with word out that Carl Frampton will be doing his thing in New York on July 30.

The 22-0 Irish hitter had his way with Brit rival Scott to unify two titles at 122 pounds (IBF and WBA, later stripped of the latter for not facing Guillermo Rigondeaux) and will now move up to featherweight and challenge WBA titleholder Leo Santa Cruz at Barclays Center, reported his promoter, Barry McGuigan.

Santa Cruz boasts a 32-0-1 mark and an A-grade win over fellow upper-echelon pugilist Abner Mares last August. That earned him the belt, which he defended against Kiko Martinez in February. His last three bouts have been at 126, after having fought six straight at 122.

The rumor mill places a Danny Jacobs vs. Irishman Andy Lee fight underneath the Frampton-LSC tangle in Brooklyn, but that pairing hasn’t been confirmed.

(Note: Originally this story mistakenly reported that Santa Cruz would be moving down to 122 pounds to challenge for Frampton’s title.)
