Lee Selby (22-1, 8 KOs) will defend his IBF featherweight title against mandatory challenger Eric Hunter in London, England, on April 9.

The Welshman, who is rated No. 4 by THE RING at 126 pounds, won the belt from Evgeny Gradovich via eighth-round technical decision and defended successfully against former three-weight world champion Fernando Montiel, whom he outpointed in Glendale, Arizona, last October.

His first defense on British soil comes against a Philadelphia fighter, known as ‘The Outlaw’, and Selby promises to retain his title in style.

“I can’t wait,” said the slick and talented 29-year-old. “Hunter looks decent and it will be a good fight, but I am more than ready. It’s always nice to fight in front of your home fans so it will be great to have my second defense in front of my own people.

“Last time I went away to America, so it was hard for them to watch. It was on in the early hours of the morning but this time they will get to see me and that is important. I will show why I am the IBF world champion and show people what I can do.”

“This is a great fight,” said promoter Eddie Hearn. “I think the toughest of Lee’s career and I’m delighted to add it to this huge night for British boxing. I think the atmosphere and occasion will see him shine.”

Selby’s clash with Hunter will support Anthony Joshua’s IBF heavyweight title challenge against Charles Martin.
