Zab Judah’s latest comeback attempt is scheduled for March 12 against Josh Torres at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center on the CBS Sports Network. However, figuring out if Judah will actually make it to the ring has become a parlor game of sorts.

Since signing with Greg Cohen Promotions in August of last year and then splitting with him in recent weeks, Judah has failed on three different occasions to make it past the weigh-in in the hopes of rekindling his career, though it’s not all his fault.

Judah (42-9, 29 knockouts) was supposed to fight in September but a dust-up at the weigh-in with opponent Hevinson Herrera scuttled that bout. Judah was then scheduled to fight last November against former lightweight titleholder Juan Carlos Salgado. But that bout was also canceled when Salgado backed out days before with an ankle injury.

The 38-year-old Judah was then scheduled to headline a card this Friday against Virgil Green in a junior welterweight bout in Iowa on Cohen’s CBS Sports Net Boxing series. But that also fell through after the boxer and promoter had a falling out. Judah, who has since split with Cohen and is currently a promotional free agent, last faced Paulie Malignaggi in Dec. of 2013 in an uninspired performance, losing a unanimous decision.

That didn’t stop event organizers from sending out a press release on Tuesday announcing the inaugural card featuring Judah, a former undisputed welterweight champion against the 26-year-old Torres, (15-4-2, 7 KOs), who started training at the behest of former world champion Johnny Tapia, who died in 2012. Torres is now guided by Tapia’s brother-in-law Chris Chavez. Judah and Torres are headline a new monthly boxing series called, “Knockout Night at the D” at the DLVEC open air venue.

Also on the card is Leon “The Third Generation” Spinks III against Jesus Gutierrez in an eight-round lightweight bout. Spinks’ grandfather is Leon Spinks; Michael Spinks is his great uncle and Cory Spinks is his uncle.
