Sullivan the spoiler?

So, I had to wonder: Is it not a weird place to be for Kathy Duva, the Main Events boss?

If her guy, Sullivan Barrera, beats Andre Ward March 26 in Oakland and on HBO, doesn’t that mess up plans for her big gun, IBF/WBA/WBO light heavyweight titlist Sergey Kovalev? Ward is supposed to meet up with the Russian in the near future…

So, weird, or what?

“Ward plans to fight twice before he will fight Sergey,” Duva explained to me. “That was Ward’s term. That means that Ward will risk messing up plans for Kovalev-Ward (most definitely not “Ward-Kovalev”!) two times before November. If someone is going to beat Ward before he gets to Kovalev, I would prefer to be the promoter of that fighter than not. And this is a great opportunity for Sullivan. So yes, if Sullivan wins, that would be just fine with Main Events.”

A weird place for Michael Woods to be is anywhere without Wi-Fi. That boy would go nutzoid, I tell ya.
