Unbeaten Frankie Gomez will fight Silverio Ortiz on Feb. 5, Golden Boy Promotions announced Monday morning.

The 10-round bout will take place at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif. The bout will precede the 10-round junior featherweight bout between unbeaten Randy Caballero and Ruben Garcia.

Both fights will air live on Estrella TV, beginning at 10 p.m. ET/ 7 p.m. PT.

Gomez, a former amateur standout who resides in East Los Angeles, has made headlines in and out of the ring recently. While he has an excellent skill-set to compliment his power, Gomez has had issues with weight, which led to the cancellation of a bout against Humberto Soto on May 9 in Houston, Texas.

In his last bout on Oct. 23, also in Indio, Gomez (19-0, 13 knockouts) defeated Jorge Silva over 10 one-sided rounds. Gomez weighed in at 150 ΒΌ pounds, over three pounds above the contracted weight.

Gomez is trained by Freddie Roach.

Ortiz (34-16, 16 KOs) has lost his last two bouts after winning his previous eight bouts in a row.

In his last bout on Dec. 19, Ortiz was dropped twice by contender Pablo Cesar Cano en route to a landslide 10-round decision loss.

Hector Tanajara (4-0, 3 KOs) will open the “Boxeo Estelar” telecast in a four-round bout.

Preliminary action will air live on RingTVLive.com, beginning at 8:30 p.m. ET/ 5:30 p.m. PT.
