Unbeaten featherweight Julian Ramirez will face veteran Christopher Martin on Jan. 29, manager Joel De La Hoya told RingTV over the weekend.

The 10-round bout will take place at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles, Calif. and will air live on Estrella TV. Opening the ‘Boxeo Estelar’ telecast will be a 10-round bout between Abraham Lopez and Carlos Valcarcel.

Ramirez (15-0, 8 knockouts) is one of Golden Boy Promotions’ top young unbeaten prospects and has developed a following in Southern California. Ramirez resides in nearby East Los Angeles.

In his last bout on Oct. 3, Ramirez won a 10-round unanimous decision over Hugo Partida. Six months prior, Ramirez won a one-sided, 10-round decision over Raul Hidalgo.

Ramirez is managed by De La Hoya.

Martin (28-6-3, 9 KOs) will be a significant test for Ramirez, considering the level of opposition he has faced in over nine years as a pro.

In his last bout on May 29, Martin lost an eight-round unanimous decision to Daniel Roman. Martin, who hails from San Diego, has notable losses to Luis Orlando Del Valle, Miguel Marriaga and Gary Russell Jr.

Martin has lost three of his last four bouts.

Lopez (19-0-1, 14 KOs), from nearby La Puente, stopped Jorge Diaz after the ninth round in his last bout on Aug. 6. He returned to the ring last March after a three-year hiatus to complete his education in respiratory therapy.

Valcarcel (14-6-4, 5 KOs) has won his last two bouts after losing his previous four.

Featherweight Edgar Valerio (4-0, 2 KOs), a fighter De La Hoya recently signed to a managerial contract, will fight in a four-round bout.
