Unbeaten super middleweight contenders Callum Smith and Rocky Fielding will fight for the vacant British title in a highly anticipated all-Liverpool blockbuster at the Echo Arena on Nov 7.

The Scouse rivals have been on a collision course since both secured impressive wins back in June. Fielding (21-0, 12 knockouts) delivered a significant statement with regards to his elite potential by crushing Texan Bryan Vera inside two rounds, while Smith (17-0, 12 KOs) continued his rise with a wide decision over former European holder Christopher Rebrasse.

Fielding is convinced he will emerge with his perfect record intact, claiming 25-year-old Smith is not in the same class as him – despite many pundits suggesting otherwise.

I don’t think it will go the distance,” said the 28-year-old Warrington-based star. “I’ve got the power to hit him and he thinks the same. I think he’s a bit over-hyped and I’m under-hyped. It will unfold on fight night and, hopefully, I can win.

“It’s a good match, one that everyone’s been talking about. It’s a big fight that is going to sell out. I’m looking forward to it. I have been taking a different path but now our paths will cross. It’s a good time to get it on.”

Matchroom chief Eddie Hearn echoed those sentiments although added the contest, which will be shown live on Sky Sports, is way too close to call.

This is one of the biggest domestic fights of the year and such a fascinating fight,” said Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn. “Neither fighter would back down or out of this fight – and now fight fans get an absolute cracker.

It is 21-0 versus 17-0, both fighters are ranked highly across all world governing bodies and there’s going to be some atmosphere at a packed Echo Arena on November 7. The big question: Who’s fooling who?”
