A new co-main event will take place on the Golden Boy Promotions card on August 8.

Junior featherweights Yoandris Salinas and Manuel ‘Tino’ Avila will square off in a 10 round bout at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif. Both will be vying for the vacant NABF 122-pound title.

The Salinas-Avila bout, which replaces the 10-round heavyweight bout between Luis Ortiz and Alonzo Butler, will be televised live on HBO Latino.

Salinas (21-1-2, 14 KOs), who held top-rated Scott Quigg to a 12-round majority decision draw in 2013, is a step up in competition for Avila, who is still considered a prospect. The Cuba-born fighter was upset in his next fight last July, losing by technical knockout in the fifth round at the hands of Enrique Quevedo.

In his last bout on April 11, Salinas knocked out overmatched Ricardo Alvarado in the first round in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

In his last bout on May 7, Avila (17-0, 7 KOs) defeated Erik Ruiz by unanimous decision over 10 rounds. Avila scored knockout wins over former world title challenger David De La Mora and Sergio Frias in 2014.

In the main event, Johan Perez (20-2-1, 13 KOs) will defend his NABA welterweight title against Dmitry Mikhaylenko (19-0, 8 KOs) of Russia in a 10 round bout.

Opening the HBO Latino three-bout broadcast will be a 10 round junior lightweight bout between Tevin Farmer (19-4-1, 4 KOs) against Juan Rodriguez (25-5, 22 KOs) of Mexico. Farmer has won his last 12 bouts in a row.
