His babyface might indicate he’s a soft touch or in another, softer line of work, but Vadim Kornilov, manager to Ruslan Provodnikov and a growing stable of hitters, is on the short list of next generation dealmakers in the game.

The 29-year-old told RING he is just back from Russia, where he was cementing and laying groundwork for deals. “I was working on finalizing Viktor Postol vs. Lucas Matthysse for October with Elite Boxing, Top Rank, and Golden Boy. The purse bid is Monday.” Postol is a super-slick Kornilov client who might be able to outbox the hammer-fisted Argentine.

His guy Egor Mekhontsev, a 9-0 light heavy – look out Andre Ward in 18 months – is fighting in the beginning of September in Vegas on a TruTV card, he reported. Also, Provodnikov, who is working on becoming a smarter boxer rather than a face-first brawler, has a bout in the works for the fall, either in Russia or the U.S., said Kornilov.

“We will see what happens with Postol, hard to tell right now,” he said when I asked if he had a guess who might snag the rights to promote the fight. “Ruslan is in the works, nothing specific yet to give you,” Kornilov said when I asked about maybe foes. “Hopefully Brandon Rios finally comes forward instead of just talking! Ruslan is ready to fight Brandon Rios. It’s not about the money, it’s about another Fight of the Year for the fans!”

Also, client Denis Lebedev, a cruiser rumbler, has planned to come back in November in Russia.
