Former British and Commonwealth heavyweight titleholder David Price is confident of claiming the domestic triple when he faces the unbeaten Erkan Teper for the vacant European championship on July 17 in Germany.

Price (19-2, 16 knockouts) has enjoyed a good run of form recently. He has posted four consecutive victories to earn himself a shot at the European crown and, following diligent preparation, the 2008 Olympic bronze medalist believes he is really back to his best.

“This has been the toughest training camp I’ve ever been involved in,” Price said in a press release issued by Sauerland Promotions. “You push your body to the limit and spend a lot of time tired and aching, but now, the hard work is done, and I can’t wait to get over there and take that title.

“I’m fired up and ready to go. I’ve had some great, competitive sparring and although it’s difficult to replicate your opponent, we believe we’ve had the ideal preparation for this fight. I’ve just got to get in there and do the business.

Price continued, “This isn’t a fight where I’ve had to go looking for motivation. If I win this fight, not only am I European champion, but I’m also back in contention for a shot at a world title. There’s no way I’m going to let this opportunity pass me by. I just need to stay calm and stick to the game plan.”

Teper (14-0, 9 KOs) can’t quite match Price for height, at 6ft 5, but he is a big puncher and represents the toughest challenge of the Englishman’s career for some time.

The bout will be televised by BoxNation in the UK, live and exclusive on Sky 437/HD 490, Virgin 546 and Talk Talk 415. Subscribe at www.boxnation.com or watch online at Livesport.tv and via iPhone, iPad or Android
