So far, so good, a Manny-Camp insider told me on Thursday morning, reporting that The Congressman looks sharp, and strong, and is dealing with the media crush, and PED testing, and some switches to his strength and conditioning regimen with good cheer galore.

“Manny and Freddie Roach are working on how to attack Floyd Mayweather and also cutting off his escape,” the insider told me.

His body is responding well to a tweak employed by strength and conditioning coach Justin Fortune and Coach Freddie Roach. They are now doing S and C stuff in the AM, mostly at the UCLA track, and they aren’t doing really any hill work, even though Manny adores it for his stamina-reservoir building. That should help Pacman stave off any calf-cramping on fight night, and also, he is purely focused on fighting and strategy talk at Wild Card. Before this camp, he’d do some Roach work, then hop out to do some Fortune work, and this splitting of training segments seems to suit him well, the camp insider reports.

For those curious, Pacman has had samples taken from the testing folks at USADA “at least three times,” and they took some fluid from the fighter a couple days ago.

Urine each time, and blood at the start of the week; none of it is off-putting to the boxer, who, the insider said, impresses him with how comfortable he is in his own skin. He’s keen to take questions on any topic, and isn’t afraid to face off with any media – mainstream, lamestream, whatever. “Nobody can manage their time better,” the insider marveled. “He doesn’t really care that Floyd seems to be letting him do all the promotional work, and is just training. But Manny will be cutting down on media and just getting focused on the fight soon.”
