Nonito Donaire Jr. will return to the junior featherweight division for his next bout when he faces Brazilian William Prado on March 28 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Philippines.

Donaire (33-3, 21 knockouts) will be making his first appearance in a boxing ring since his sixth-round technical knockout loss to Nicholas Walters in November. The fight will also be Donaire’s first in his country of birth since his 2009 knockout of Raul Martinez.

The 31-year-old Prado (22-4-1, 15 KOs) has lost three of his last six bouts, including a third round knockout loss to current WBA junior featherweight titleholder Scott Quigg in 2013.

Donaire’s father and trainer Nonito Donaire Sr. confirmed the fight to RingTV.com, calling Prado “a tough guy.”

Donaire’s return to the 122-pound division marks will mark a return to the division where he had his greatest success as a fighter, where he capped off 2012 by nearly becoming the undisputed champion and earning the BWAA Fighter of the Year award.

The show will be headlined by RING junior flyweight champion Donnie Nietes, who will defend against Mexican Luis Ceja.
