Undefeated lightweight prospect Ivan Redkach and opponent Yakubu Amidu each weighed 137 pounds in advance of Friday’s main event at the Morongo Casino Resort and Spa in Cabazon, California on a “ShoBox: The New Generation” telecast on Showtime.
A 28-year-old Ukrainian southpaw who lives and trains in Los Angeles, Redkach (17-0, 13 knockouts) is coming off a unanimous decision over Sergey Gulyakevich in June that was preceded by a unanimous decision over Tony Luis in January.
Prior to their junior middleweight bout, the 6-foot-5, Alantez Fox and 5-9 Patrick Day weighed 155 and 154, respectively.
Fox, 22, will be after his seventh consecutive victory against Day and is coming off a unanimous decision over Jonathan Garcia in September.
Day, also 22, was last in the ring for a unanimous decision over Felipe Reyes in October, ending his own run of three consecutive stoppage victories.
For the opening bout of the ShoBox broadcast, hard-hitting middleweight Ievgen Khytrov and Maurice Louishome weighed 163 and 161, respectively.
Having fought six times in 2014, Khytrov, 26, most recently scored first-round stoppages against Willie Fortune and Louis Rose, both of whom were knocked out for the first time in their pro careers. Louishome, 37, is coming off a technical decision over Arturo Crespin in November.
