British lightweights Luke Campbell and Tommy Coyle will continue their march toward a showdown when they face separate opponents on March 7 at the Hull Ice Arena in Hull, Yorkshire, England, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport announced on Friday.

“These are great fights for Luke and Tommy to lay down a marker ahead of their explosive clash in the summer,” said Hearn. “Both guys will be out to impress in front of the home fans and indeed each other.”

An Olympic gold medalist in 2012, Campbell (9-0, 7 knockouts) will pursue his fourth consecutive stoppage victory against former British junior lightweight beltholder Gary Sykes (27-4, 6 KOs), 30, whose recent seven-fight winning streak was ended by a unanimous decision loss to undefeated Liam Walsh in November.

Campbell, 27, was last in the ring for a fifth round technical knockout over Daniel Eduardo Brizuela in October.

The 25-year-old Coyle (20-2, 9 KOs) is coming off a shocking, second round technical knockout of former lightweight title challenger Michael Katsidis on the same card as Campbell-Brizuela.

The victory was the fifth straight for Coyle during a run that has included three knockouts since being stopped in the 10th round by Derry Matthews in July 2013.

“Gary and Martin will be aiming to scupper their plans and add famous scalps to their already impressive [career victories,]” said Hearn. “There will be plenty of tension in the air with Luke and Tommy knowing they must come through their fights in style to set up the showdown that their hometown fans crave.”

Other bouts will feature super middleweight Rocky Fielding, who returns from hand surgery, as well as welterweight Sam Eggington in pursuit of his sixth consecutive win against Shayne Singleton.
