Former RING/WBC light heavyweight champ Jean Pascal and Roberto Feliciano Bolonti weighed 179.6 and 179 pounds in advance of Saturday’s contracted 180-pound bout at Bell Centre in Montreal.

Although Pascal (29-2-1, 17 knockouts) is the mandatory challenger to face current RING/WBC champion Adonis Stevenson (24-1, 20 KOs), a deal has been reached for him to meet IBF/WBA/WBO counterpart Sergey Kovalev (26-0-1, 23s) on March 14 in either Montreal or Quebec City, Canada.

The agreement is contingent on two things, one being approval by the IBF given that Kovalev’s mandatory challenger is Nadjib Mohammedi, who is also promoted by Main Events. The other is Pascal must defeat Bolonti (35-3, 24 KOs).

“All I’m thinking about is this fight. I know Bolonti is the ideal opponent for me to prepare for the next bout, whoever it will be, against any right-hander,” Pascal stated in a press release. “I know he’ll be ready. He’s here to try and surprise everyone, and a win would allow him to be noticed at the international level.”

Stevenson is scheduled for a Dec. 19 date with Russian Dmitry Sukhotsky in Quebec City, even as the Bell Centre in Montreal had been placed on hold on for a potential April 4 showdown with Pascal, according to Stevenson’s promoter, Yvon Michel.

Kovalev, 31, is coming off an HBO-televised unanimous decision that added Bernard Hopkins’ IBF and WBA belts to his WBO belt on Nov. 8.

Pascal, 32, won his last fight in January by unanimous decision over former IBF super middleweight titleholder Lucian Bute, representing Pascal’s third straight victory since losing his RING and WBC titles via unanimous decision to Hopkins in May 2011. During that time, Pascal has also scored a unanimous decision over Aleksy Kuziemski and a fifth-round knockout of George Blades.

Bolonti, 35, is coming off a unanimous decision loss to RING No. 4-rated Juergen Braehmer in June, ending Bolonti’s run of five consecutive knockout victories.

Bolonti’s other losses were by unanimous decisions to Franco Raul Sanchez in his fifth career bout in March 2006, and, to Tony Bellew in November 2012.
