The Matt Korobov-Andy Lee middleweight bout will be part of a Dec. 13 tripleheader topped by the Tim Bradley-Diego Chaves welterweight fight, Korobov’s manager, Cameron Dunkin, confirmed to RingTV.com on Thursday.

Korobov-Lee, which is for the vacant WBO title, will take place at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas and be part of HBO’s broadcast along with Bradley-Chaves.

Korobov (24-0, 14 knockouts) and Lee (33-2, 23 KOs) will fight for the 160-pound belt vacated by Peter Quillin in the co-feature to Bradley-Chaves. In the opening bout of the HBO telecast, unbeaten prospect Jose Benavidez Jr. will fight contender Mauricio Herrera in a junior welterweight bout.

“It’s a very strong card and it’s going to be a great event,” said Top Rank CEO Bob Arum. “I’m very happy that it’s at The Cosmopolitan, where every seat is a great seat and it will be a super, year-ending event.”

Quillin was entitled to 75 percent ($1,428, 630) of the $1,904,840 Roc Nation used to win a WBO purse bid for the right to promote Quillin-Korobov.

“We wanted the Quillin fight, of course. There was a lot of money in that fight and it was also a big opportunity to beat a guy like that who was undefeated and everything,” said Dunkin of Korobov, a 31-year-old Russian amateur standout who scored a unanimous decision over Jose Uzcategui in his last fight in June.

“But Andy Lee is a very difficult fighter, and this will be a tough, tough fight and a very hard fight. So Matt’s got to get buy a guy like this so that people will know that he’s for real. It’s time, so he’s got to go out there and win it.”

Lee, 30, earned a come-from-behind fifth-round knockout of John Jackson in June. The win over Jackson represented Lee’s fifth straight victory during a run that has included three knockouts since he suffered a seventh-round knockout to then-WBC middleweight beltholder Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in June 2012.

“Andy Lee is legitimately one of the best middleweights in the world, and he will prove that when he defeats Matt Korobov,” said Lou DiBella, Lee’s promoter. “Korobov-Lee is an evenly-matched fight that is sure to bring fireworks. Dec. 13 will be a great night for boxing fans.”
