A deal is close for two-division titlewinner Tim Bradley to face Diego Chaves in a welterweight bout on Dec. 13 at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum informed RingTV.com on Thursday.

“It’s pretty definite that it will be Diego Chaves, and that will be at the Cosmo in Las Vegas,” said Arum. “We’re waiting to get the contracts back. We’re trying to get everything finalized. That’s the direction we’re going in.”

In his last fight April, Bradley (31-1, 12 knockouts) was dethroned as WBO 147-pound beltholder following a unanimous loss to Manny Pacquiao.

In victory over Bradley, Pacquiao regained the title he lost by disputed split-decision to Bradley in June 2012, ended Pacquiao’s nearly seven year long, 15-bout winning streak that included eight knockouts.

In between the bouts with Pacquiao, Bradley, 31, earned a unanimous decision over Ruslan Provodnikov in March 2013 as well as a split-decision over Juan Manuel Marquez in October 2013.

Chaves (23-2, 19 knockouts) is 1-2 in his past three fights and is coming off last month’s ninth-round disqualification loss to Brandon Rios.

Chaves, 28, had taken a streak of five consecutive knockout victories into his bout with Keith Thurman, who dropped him twice during a 10th-round knockout victory over Chaves in July 2013.

In his next fight in February, Chaves scored a third-round stoppage of Juan Alberto Godoy, ending the loser’s run of six consecutive victories.
