J’LEON LOVE, BADOU JACK HIGHLIGHT AUG. 30 MAYWEATHER PROMOTIONS CARD

Unbeaten middleweight J’Leon Love (18-0, 10 KOs) will face Rogelio Medina (32-6, 26 KOs) at The Pearl at Palms Resort Casino in Las Vegas on Aug. 30, Mayweather Promotions announced on Thursday.

In his last fight in May, Love earned a unanimous decision over former title challenger Marco Antonio Periban on the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Marcos Maidana I undercard at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

“It’s great to be putting on another great card with Mayweather Promotions stars from top to bottom,” said Mayweather, president of Mayweather Promotions.

“Even though we will be two weeks away from my rematch against Maidana, there is no way I would miss this. These guys all live by the motto of ‘Hard work, dedication,’ and I look forward to seeing that hard work pay off on August 30.”

Medina, 25, has lost four of his past six fights and is coming off a split decision loss to Jonathan Gonzalez in May.

In the co-feature, super middleweight Jason Escalera will meet Badou Jack.

Escalera, 29, has scored consecutive split and unanimous decisions over previously unbeaten fighters Naim Terbunja and Norbert Nemesapati in July and August, respectively

Jack, 30, is looking to rebound after a 61-second stoppage loss to Derek Edwards in February that followed his sixth-round knockout of Medina in December.

Also on the card, middleweight Chris Pearson will face Steve Martinez and super middleweight Ronald Gavril meets Thomas Falowo.

Other fights on the card will feature welterweights Ashley Theophane and Ladarius Miller in separate bouts, middleweight Luis Arias, super middleweight Lanell Bellows and cruiserweight Andrew Tabiti.

“The August 30 fight kicks off two big weeks for Mayweather Promotions,” said Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions. “With a full roster of our toughest fighters, fans at The Palm will be in for great fights from start to finish just 14 days before the biggest fight of the year.”
