Gennady Golovkin KO 7 Daniel Geale: For fear of being ridiculed post-fight, is this a joke pick? How can I get ahead in this race if everybody picks Gennady Golovkin? And everybody will. Please explain. GGG will break his foe down just like he has before. Geale offers nothing special to alter that outcome. Golovkin by stoppage in seven.
Record: 11-2 [Last pick: Alvarez W 12 Lara]

Gennady Golovkin TKO 8 Daniel Geale: Daniel Geale is a tough competitor but not quite tough enough to withstand the punching power of WBA middleweight titleholder Gennady Golovkin. Then again, very few are. I expect the Kazakhstan KO specialist to stop the man from Down Under in the latter stages.

Record: 3-2 [Last pick: Froch KO 8 Groves]

Gennady Golovkin TKO 11 Daniel Geale: Gennady Golovkin and Daniel Geale are talented fighters. The undefeated Golovkin has held the WBA and IBO titles since 2010. Geale is a two-time beltholder. Golovkin has more power than Geale but the native Australian is a good boxer.

I see Geale giving Golovkin some problems in the opening rounds. As the fight progresses, the stronger Golovkin will work the body and wear down Geale, leading to a stoppage in round 11.

Record: 15-6 [Last pick: Alvarez W 12 Lara]

Gennady Golovkin KO 7 Daniel Geale: How can you not pick Gennady Golovkin in this one? Yes, Daniel Geale is arguably the best fighter “GGG” has fought to date and that could pose some problems early on. However, I expect Golovkin to walk through Geale’s best punches en route to an exciting but dominant stoppage win.

Record: 15-4 [Last pick: Alvarez W 12 Lara]

Gennady Golovkin KO Daniel Geale: Daniel Geale is a tough out, mentally as much as anything. But he’s just physically outgunned here by Gennady Golovkin and it will show.

Record: 10-10 [Last pick: Lara W 12 Alvarez]

Gennady Golovkin KO 7 Daniel Geale: I think Daniel Geale is a solid, tough fighter. And solid, tough fighters can’t beat the likes of Gennady Golovkin, who is superior to the Australian in every way inside the ropes.

Record: 11-5 [Last pick: Alvarez KO 10 Lara]

Francisco Salazar, RingTV.com

Gennady Golovkin TKO 9 Daniel Geale: It will be interesting to see what Daniel Geale does at the beginning of the fight. Will he box or try to outbox Gennady Golovkin when the Kazakh fighter cuts off the ring?

Golovkin will stun Geale during the early rounds but the Aussie fighter will remain composed. I predict there will be some very good exchanges during the fight, enough to where the crowd stands on its feet. Golovkin will just be too strong down the stretch, investing heavily in the body. Golovkin will drop Geale before referee Mike Ortega has to stop it by round nine.

Record: 3-0 [Last pick: Alvarez SD 12 Lara]

Gennady Golovkin KO 7 Daniel Geale: Daniel Geale will make it fun but Gennady Golovkin simply has too much firepower. Golovkin will eventually stalk Geale and then beat him down with his heavy hands.

Record: 9-0 [Last pick: Alvarez KO 10 Lara]

John Scully, trainer

Gennady Golovkin KO Daniel Geale: I’m going with Gennady Golovkin by a stoppage in the second half of the fight. It’s just GGG’s time. Daniel Geale will definitely try and have some success but Gennady will come through after he hits his stride around the fourth or fifth.

Record: 10-6 [Last pick: Alvarez W 12 Lara]

Rob Soucy, BoxingTalk.com

Gennady Golovkin UD 12 Daniel Geale: I believe Gennady Golovkin is the most overrated fighter in boxing because he frequently shows up on top 10 pound-for-pound lists without having one significant win in his career. He does, however, have legitimate, one-punch power and is the best middleweight in the world.

Daniel Geale, who is fighting in the U.S. for only the second time, will have to find a way to neutralize Triple-G’s hellacious punching power. Not only does Geale have to avoid getting blasted with anything significant, he has to open up enough to win rounds. That is easier said than done especially after getting hit by arguably the biggest puncher in boxing.

Punchers like Golovkin tend to make their opponents gun-shy after a few rounds, which could easily be the case Saturday night. I don’t believe that there is anything that Geale does better than Golovkin nor do I give him much chance to win. I think GGG wins convincingly but also believe Geale will survive and go the distance.

Record: 13-3 [Last pick: Alvarez SD 12 Lara]

Bradley Starks, guest/fan, Novato, Calif.

Gennady Golovkin UD 12 Daniel Geale: Daniel Geale is a fighter with a solid, all-around skillset and should provide Gennady Golovkin with the toughest fight of his professional career. If he had a just little more power behind his punches, I think he’d have a real shot at upsetting the Kazakh applecart and giving GGG his first loss.

But Geale doesn’t. And once Golovkin hits his stride and glides into third and fourth gears, it will take all of the Aussie’s abilities to make it to the final bell. Though he may get knocked down in the process, I do think Geale will finish the fight. Unfortunately for him, he’ll have his third pro loss once the scorecards are read.

Record: 2-0 [Last pick: Alvarez late-round KO Lara]

Bob Velin, USA Today

Gennady Golovkin KO 7 Daniel Geale: Daniel Geale is known as “Real Deal” Geale but Gennady Golovkin is the real deal. When he figures out Geale’s pressure style after four rounds or so, he will begin to stalk him and look for the knockout punch.

Geale will give him openings. Then it becomes just a matter of time, figure sometime in the seventh round when GGG will connect on a thundering shot and put Geale to sleep.

Record: 10-4 [Last pick: Lara SD 12 Alvarez]

Dominic Verdin, RingTV.com

Gennady Golovkin KO 11 Daniel Geale: I believe this is a good matchup. There’s no doubt in my mind who will be the victor. The real questions are: Will Daniel Geale go the full 12 rounds? How much will he bring or test Gennady Golovkin?

Geale could very well be undefeated. Forget about the first loss to Anthony Mundine and the second loss to Darren Barker. They should have gone to Geale in my opinion.

Geale doesn’t have the raw knockout power to stop Golovkin but he has a great skillset to make things interesting. Golovkin will have to work hard for this victory and he will get the “W” inside 11 competitive rounds.

Record: 14-5 [Last pick: Alvarez W 12 Lara]

Anson Wainwright, RingTV.com

Gennady Golovkin TKO 10 Daniel Geale: This is the toughest test of Gennady Golovkin’s pro career to date. That said, I believe his offensive will chip away at Daniel Geale; he’ll hurt him a couple of times but not drop him. I can see the proud Australian being rescued on his feet late in this one, banged up and bloodied.

Record: 13-5 [Last pick: Alvarez W 12 Lara]

By a shutout, 23-0, the insiders favor Gennady Golovkin to retain his WBA middleweight title against ex-beltholder Daniel Geale, with all but two predicting the fight will end in a knockout.
