Tyson Fury still plans to be in action this Saturday in Manchester, England, despite the shock cancelation of his heavyweight title eliminator against Dereck Chisora.

On Monday evening Chisora (20-4, 13 knockouts) withdrew from an anticipated rematch with undefeated contender Fury after reportedly fracturing a hand in his final training session.

Though another bitter setback for Manchester giant Fury, who has had three of his last four bouts called off by crocked opponents, he is refusing to get too downhearted or angry about a situation beyond his control.

Indeed, judging by comments on Twitter from both himself and uncle/trainer Peter Fury in the wake of the Chisora news, THE RING’s No.4-rated heavyweight clearly intends to be in the ring this weekend at the Phones 4 U Arena in home city Manchester.

“Great workout this morning followed by a sunbed & a jacket potato,” 25-year-old Fury (22-0, 15 KOs) tweeted on Tuesday. “Feeling on fire. Can’t wait for Saturday. Don’t know who am fighting yet.”

Those sentiments echoed a post by Peter Fury earlier in the day.

“Thanks for the support. We’re looking at various options now Chisora is out. Will update when we know more. Respect,” he said on Twitter.

The calm, measured response from Fury is in stark contrast to his angry ranting and raving last year following the cancelation of two proposed blockbuster scraps against former WBA heavyweight holder David Haye.

On both occasions, fellow Englishman Haye withdrew at short notice after suffering first an eye injury and then another to his shoulder – costing everyone a massive payday in the process. The rival pair could yet meet as Haye, 32, insists he is once again fighting fit, having undergone major surgery to repair the damaged shoulder.

But for now Fury just needs to keep active, hopefully starting with a 10-round contest this Saturday against an opponent still to be found.

Whatever happens in that respect, the Manchester show goes ahead. Topping the bill is English middleweight contender Billy Joe Saunders (19-0, 10 KOs ) versus Italian Emanuele Blandamura (20-0, 5 KOs) for the vacant European title.
