Brazilian Olympian Yamaguchi Falcao, Ireland’s Jason Quigley, Cuba’s Yoandris Salinas and Puerto Rico’s John Karl Sosa have added an international flavor to the undercard of Saturday’s main event between Mexico’s Saul Alvarez and Cuba’s Erislandy Lara from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Showtime Pay-Per-View.
“This is a very special undercard to kick off what will be one of the best fight nights of the year,” said Oscar De la Hoya, president and founder of Golden Boy Promotions.
“Top level fighters from around the world will be competing in quick succession leading up to the ‘Canelo’ vs. Lara four-fight pay-per-view event. Fight fans should plan on getting to the MGM Grand Garden Arena early so they don’t miss this top-to-bottom thrilling card.”
A 2012 Olympic bronze medalist and southpaw, Los Angeles resident Yamaguchi Falcao (1-0), 26, will face Puerto Rico’s Jesus M. Cruz. In a clash of middleweights, Quigley, 23, will make his professional debut against Florida’s Howard Reece.
Junior featherweight Salinas, 28, returns against Enrique Quevedo in an attempt to rebound from
a draw with Scott Quigg in October and Sosa will be matched against Mexico’s Luis Bello in a welterweight match-up.
