Mexican star Saul Alvarez said that his combined fights with Austin Trout, supreme boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. and hard-punching Alfredo Angulo have prepared him for his July 12 junior middleweight clash with southpaw Erislandy Lara at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Showtime Pay-Per-View.

In his past three fights, Alvarez (43-1-1, 31 knockouts) has scored a seventh-round knockdown during a unanimous decision over Trout in April 2013, lost his WBC 154-pound belt to RING and WBA champion Mayweather by majority decision last September and rebounded with a 10th-round stoppage of Angulo in March.

"I've learned a lot from those combined last three fights and I'm taking what I learned into Lara fight. It was a real learning process in the last three fights, and it will help me in all of my future fights," said Alvarez, who turns 24 on July 18.

"I feel as if I am ready for all different styles, not just the guys who are similar to those in the last three fights but for the rest of my career. I'm glad that this fight is next and that I can give them a fight that people have wanted."

For Lara  (19-1-2, 12 KOs), his last two wins were a 10th-round knockout of Angulo, during which Lara was floored once each in the fourth and ninth rounds last June and a unanimous decision over Trout, whom Lara dropped in the 11th round in December.

Alvarez has been working with three lefthanders comprised of junior welterweight Cleotis Pendarvis of Los Angeles, welterweight Chris Van Heerden of South Africa, and junior middleweight Christopher Pearson of Dayton, Ohio.

"I've always done very well against southpaws. I'm able to take advantage of their defense and I'm able to adapt to any style. I don't have a problem with them," said Alvarez "I've prepared very well and I'm working hard. My sparring partners are actually helping me quite a bit. So I'm preparing very well for Lara's technique and I'm really ready."

Note: In preparation for the Alvarez-Lara fight, Golden Boy Promotions and Leigh Simons Productions will present "Countdown to Canelo vs. Lara," a primetime special 30-minute preview show that will air on various FOX Sports platforms beginning July 2.
