Showtime Sports' Stephen Espinoza said Richard Schaefer's resignation from Golden Boy Promotions will not affect the July 12 Showtime Pay Per View card headlined by the Canelo Alvarez-Erislandy Lara fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

"I don't think that it would be appropriate for me to comment on the Golden Boy situation," said Espinoza. "But what I do know is that this will not have any effect on the July 12 pay per view, which is going to continue unaffected."

The card, officially announced by Golden Boy President Oscar De La Hoya on May 27, will also feature three-division titlist Abner Mares against Jonathan Oquendo.

In other bouts, junior welterweight contender Johan Perez will battle former title challenger Mauricio Herrera, and ex-titleholder Juan Manuel Lopez, of Puerto Rico, will clash with Franciso Vargas of Mexico.

Schaefer announced that he is leaving the Los Angeles-based company that he helped start 10 years ago, this, after a long-brewing internal feud with De La Hoya.

"After more than 10 years with Golden Boy, it is time to move on to the next chapter of my career. This decision has required a great deal of personal reflection, but ultimately, I concluded that I have no choice but to leave," said Schaefer, in a release.

"I have succeeded in banking, and I have succeeded in boxing, and I look forward to the next opportunity. I am proud to remain a shareholder, so I have a strong interest in the continued success of the company. I am proud of what we have accomplished at Golden Boy, but I now look forward to new challenges."
