Lem’s latest: Jorge Arce returns on June 14

Four-division title winner Jorge Arce will pursue his third consecutive stoppage victory in a featherweight bout against former title challenger Jorge Lacierva on June 14 in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Mexico, to be broadcast by TV Azteca, according to reports.

A fighter who turns 35 in July, Arce (63-7-2, 48 knockouts) was last in action for a fifth-round knockout of Aldimar Silva Santos in March that was preceded by November's eighth-round knockout of Jose Carmona.

Prior to facing Carmona, Arce had been stopped in the third round by Nonito Donaire in December 2012, while Lacierva (41-9-6, 27 KOs), who turns 36 in July, was last in action for a ninth-round stoppage loss to Bryan Vasquez in July 2012.

On the Arce-Lacierva undercard, 2008 Olympian McJoe Arroyo (14-0, 7 KOs), who is 28, will face former flyweight titleholder Hernan Marquez (37-4, 26 KOs) in an IBF junior bantamweight eliminator for the right to challenge for the organization's vacant belt.



On a June 19 Golden Boy Live! show on Fox Sports 1 and Fox Deportes, McJoe's twin, McWilliams Arroyo (14-1, 12 KOs), will face Froilan Saludar (19-0-1, 12 KOs) in an IBF flyweight title eliminator at Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez, in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Golden Boy announced on Tuesday. The Arroyo-Saludar winner will become the mandatory challenger to face Amnat Ruenroeng of Thailand.

Also on the card, southpaw Cesar Seda (25-2, 17 KOs) will face an opponent to be determined in a junior featherweight bout, having last been in action during a It will be his first fight since falling by unanimous decision to Leo Santa Cruz in December.

 

HBO'S NONITO DONAIRE-SIMPIWE VETYEKA, CARL FROCH-GEORGE GROVES COVERAGE STARTS AT 4 P.M.

American boxing fans can catch a highly-anticipated rematch between IBF super middleweight titleholder Carl Froch and George Groves in London, England, as well as a WBA featherweight title defense by Simpiwe Vetyeka against Nonito Donaire from Macau when HBO Boxing After Dark airs on Saturday starting at 4 p.m. (ET/PT).

Froch rose from a first-round knockdown to secure a disputed ninth-round stoppage over Groves in November, and their return bout at Wembley Arena is scheduled to air at 4:45 p.m. following the 4 p.m. bout between Donaire and Vetyeka from Cotai Arena at The Venetian Macao in Macau, China.

Later on Saturday at 11:15 p.m. ET/PT, HBO will present the first episode of "24/7 Cotto-Martinez" in advance of the June 7 clash between RING and WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez and three-division titlewinner Miguel Cotto that is slated for New York's Madison Square Garden.

At midnight ET/PT, HBO Latino presents a special edition of "HBO Latino Boxing" from the Tropicana Casino Hotel and Resort in Las Vegas, where junior lightweight Javier Fortuna of the Dominican Republic takes on Mexico’s Juan Antonio Rodriguez, and Luis Rosa faces Luis Orlando Del Valle in a junior featherweight clash.

 

YUDEL JHONSON-NORBERTO GONZALEZ ON JUNE 6 IRON MIKE PRODUCTIONS CARD

Junior middleweight Yudel Jhonson (15-1, 9 KOs), a 2004 Olympic silver medalist, will face Norberto Gonzalez (20-3, 13 KOs) in the main event of a June 6 card promoted by Mike Tyson of Iron Mike Productions from Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York on ESPN Friday Night Fights.

In the co-feature, welterweight Sammy Vasquez Jr. (14-0, 10 KOs) will meets Jay Krupp (17-6, 8 KOs) from nearby Catskill, New York. Alson on the card, 2012 Ukraine Olympian Ievgen Khytrov (4-0, 4 KOs) will fight Chris Chatman (12-3-1, 5 KOs) in a middleweight bout.

In addition, light heavyweight Isiah Thomas (12-0, 6 KOs) is being matched against Rayco Saunders (23-23-2, 10 KOs), and junior welterweight Johnny Garcia (19-1, 11 KOs) faces John Williams (11-3-1, 5 KOs).
