Londoner George Groves insists he wants total neutrality and no officials from the United Kingdom for his May 31 showdown with IBF super middleweight titleholder Carl Froch. American referee Charlie Fitch, from New York, has been put forward for the anticipated rematch, with both teams to agree this weekend over his presence as the third man in the ring at Wembley Stadium.

The Daily Telegraph can also reveal that Groves demanded that it was written into the fight contract by promoter Eddie Hearn that no officials for this grudge fight — referee or judges — were to be from the UK.

Groves had also stated to Hearn that if British officials were sanctioned he would pull out of the fight. “I just wanted neutrality from all the officials,” said Groves.
