Floyd Mayweather Jr.: ‘When I leave, I will be known as the best ever’

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is shown taking Adrien Broner to task for his out-of-the ring activities and rewarding two young boys with $100 each for a sparring session. Named the highest-paid athlete for nearly the past three years, the pound-for-pound king purchases a Bentley and a Ferrari, his 89th and 90th cars in a fleet that covers Las Vegas, Miami and Los Angeles.

These actions, among others, were on display by Mayweather in Saturday's episode of All Access: Mayweather vs. Maidana in advance of the May 3 defense of his RING and WBC welterweight championships against WBA counterpart Marcos Maidana on Showtime Pay-Per-View from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

"Is it about the money? Absolutely. Is it about the fame? Absolutely. It's everything wrapped into one," said Mayweather, 37, in the opening scene of the first of four 30-minute episodes. "I want to be the best. Not just the best fighter but I want to be the best athlete, period. When I leave, I will be known as 'TBE' and that's the best ever."

Mayweather (45-0, 26 knockouts) was last in the ring netting an $80 million payday from his majority decision victory in September over Saul Alvarez, which added Alvarez's RING and WBA 154-pound championships to the WBC junior middleweight belt he already owned.

"My best friend. Y'all ever met him?" said Mayweather, at one point, holding up a pair of bills. "I've slept with the baddest b–ches. I've drove the fliest cars. I've got some of the fliest properties."

An employee at the Las Vegas-based Towbin Motorcars claims Mayweather has 88 vehicles, 14 of which have been Rolls Royces, with the Bentley and the Ferrari rounding that number to 90. Some of them, Mayweather keeps. Others, he returns within a week.

Maidana (35-3, 31 KOs) is coming off December's unanimous decision over previously unbeaten Adrien Broner, scoring knockdowns in the second and eigthth rounds to earn the WBA belt from a man considered to be a Mayweather protege.

"I'm just mad at what he did to Adrien Broner. I'm upset but I've gotta stay focused," said Mayweather, who also took Broner to task for his out-of-the-ring behaviors. "Adrien Broner got out-hustled by Marcos Maidana. You can't take nothing for granted."

Maidana, meanwhile, witnesses the birth of his daughter, Emilia, on March 11 to his fiancée at a Santa Fe clinic.

"I’m not intimidated by anything. Not the crowd, not the lights, not my opponent," said Maidana. "I don't really care about fame. I think if the fights were not televised or if we had to fight without an audience, it would be better. I only want to fight."

Two young boys spar at Mayweather's gym, after which he awards them each a $100 bill.

"Being able to help up-and-coming fighters, that's what it's about," said Mayweather. "It's all about just giving back. There's a lot of young, strong champions out there. Hopefully someday, I can find the next Floyd Mayweather."
