The Vernon Paris-Cleotis Pendarvis junior welterweight fight scheduled for this Saturday has been postponed to May 23, RingTV.com has learned.

The fight will now take place at the Quiet Cannon in Montebello, a suburb located of Los Angeles. Calif.

The Southern California-based All Star Boxing Promotions will still go ahead with a six-bout card this Saturday at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. In the main event, super middleweights John Hays (4-0-3) and Jose Hernandez (5-1-1, 3 knockoutss) square off in a six-round bout.

A possible reason the fight was postponed was due to Pendarvis reportedly serving as a sparring partner for Amir Khan in the San Francisco Bay Area. Khan faces Luis Collazo on May 3 on the Floyd Mayweather-Marcos Maidana undercard in Las Vegas, Nev.

This is the second time the fight has been moved to a different date. The fight was originally scheduled for March 21 before it was postponed four weeks to April 19.

Pendarvis (17-4-2, 6 KOs) will still defend his USBA junior welterweight title on May 23 against Paris (28-1, 16 KOs)

OSCAR VALDEZ RETURNS ON MAY 17

Unbeaten featherweight prospect Oscar Valdez will return to the ring on May 17 at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. He will likely fight a non-televised eight round bout on the undercard of the Juan Manuel Marquez-Mike Alvarado fight.

He is coming off a fourth-round knockout victory over Adrian Perez this past Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

No word yet on who Valdez (10-0, 10 KOs) will face. He is managed by Frank Espinoza and promoted by Top Rank.

EFRAIN ESQUIVIAS RETURNS ON APRIL 25

Junior featherweight fringe contender Efrain Esquivias will return to the ring on April 25 at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, Calif.

Esquivias (17-2-1, 10 KOs) has been sidelined with a back injury he suffered after his last bout on Dec. 7 in Indio, Calif. On that night, Esquivias knocked out former bantamweight titleholder and 122-pound champ Rafael Marquez in the ninth round.

Esquivias was scheduled to fight Victor Sanchez on April 25, but the fight fell through. An opponent is being sought for Esquivias.

Also scheduled to fight in an eight round bout on the Thompson Boxing Promotions card is lightweight Jose Roman (15-1-1, 11 KOs).
