2012 Olympic bronze medalist Anthony Ogogo, of Great Britain, will make his Las Vegas debut against an opponent to be determined on the non-televised undercard of Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Marcos Maidana at the MGM Grand, Golden Boy announced on Tuesday.
"British fans already know the great potential Anthony has and the charisma he possesses in and out of the ring," said Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer in a press release. "Now on one of the biggest nights of the year in boxing, fans and media in Las Vegas will get to see what all of the excitement is about. We're looking forward to having Anthony on 'The Moment' fight card."
Ogogo fought as a middleweight in the 2012 Games and eventually lost to Brazilian Esquiva Falcao by a score of 16-9. He signed with Golden Boy at the end of that year.
"It's an honor for me to be on the show and I can't wait for May 3. I've had a great training camp and hope to be in the best shape of my career for this fight," said Ogogo, 25, who is 5-0 with two knockouts. "Some British fighters never get the chance to fight in Las Vegas, and to do so in my sixth fight is a real achievement, and will be a fantastic moment for me."
