Northern Irishman Carl Frampton has slipped through the radar as a major boxoffice fighter climbing the ranks, in spite of Barry McGuigan's insistence that 'The Jackal' has demonstrated that he has "elite-level skills".

Yet if the Belfast bruiser, already ranked No 1. in the junior featherweight division by THE RING magazine, comes through two Mexicans this year – known as 'The Incredible' and 'The Earthquake' – he will become the WBC world champion in 2014.

Credibility further afield than in his own country, where he is already a huge star, ought to be immediate for the 122-pound fighter who has united a sectarian divide with his following.

That world title journey takes a huge turn in Belfast tonight as the unbeaten 27-year-old (record 17-0) faces Hugo Fidel Cazares, whom McGuigan reported on Thursday as being "in great shape, here to win, very confident and very buoyant".
